When I was younger, that is before the dawn of time when dinosaurs and Christian fundamentalists roamed the Earth I just loved the old 50's science fiction movies they'd show on TV. Flying saucers, mutant monsters and heroes with jaws of granite and nerves of steel fought to the death in order to make sure my Thursday evenings remained the highlight of my week.
So, imagine my joy when I found a site where I could see online some of the films that I enjoyed so much when I was a kid. Classics such as Forbidden Planet with its ethereal monster and amazing robot.
Also I was drawn to the story behind This Island Earth when top human scientists are whisked off to Metaluna to save their civilisation from the Zagons (no kidding).
I hope you enjoy watching these again as much as I did. Cheap special effects, stilted dialogue and acting so wooden you can hear it creak, kids today don't know what they are missing.
I'm a teacher, originally from England, now living in Northern Greece. I also blog, photograph and tweet about the current economic and refugee crisis.
