Best of luck

Many of my students took there ECPE interviews today and I managed to pop by and see how they did. To say they were nervous would be a gross understatement. Still, I think they did well and I hope they have similar success in their written exams this weekend.

Taking exams

Today my students were taking their interviews. The written paper was yesterday. We just got together and chatted before they went in, the idea being that they have done some kind of warm up in English so they don't have to make the jump from Greek to English in the interview room. Once again we were the only ones there doing this in the school yard. As I told my students, not doing this is like a Olympic sprinter getting ready for the final race by drinking a coffee and having a quick ciggy.

End of term

This weekend most of my students are taking their exams so it means that the school year has effectively finished. I'll be doing lessons until the end of the month but the with fewer hours. Anyway, today was the last regular lesson with my FCE class and as you can see they were in high spirits.

Changes in the ECPE

It seems that there are going to be major changes in the Michigan ECPE exams this year.

1)The preliminary test is being abolished as a prerequisite for taking the main examinations. Though this won't come into force until November 2007 as far as I can tell from their site.

2)From 2008 the ECPE will be held twice a year in November and June.

3)Administration of the exam will now be carried out by the Hellenic American Union instead of Anatolia college, Thessaloniki.
